Get rid of patches of acne?

I'm really bad about keeping care of my skin. My mom and sister have tried to get me into doing it, they're really devoted to their regimen, but I'm always too tired or just not bothered enough by it. Anyway. I've got these two really bad patches of acne on each cheek and they won't go away!! I've had them for as long as I can remember, which is probably a bad thing. Whenever i get one of those huge monster zits like on the end of my nose, i put a qtip with hydrogen peroxide on it and it kills it. but these aren't like pus filled so much as they are just bumps. ive tried benzoyle peroxide as well, but no luck. what's the problem?
