Can someone please help me understand all of this....see details?

I went to the fertility specialist yesterday, they did a l ultrasound and saw I had a follicle on my right ovary. They wanted me too come back today to see if it developed or not but I got a stomache virus and could not go. Is it too late to do another ultrasound to check to see if it developed, I am not due to ovulate until Friday. They also said something about bloodwork to be done with the ultrasound, what is this for? I'm sorry but I am soooo confused about all of it, it was way too much info at one time! Also, when you have a LH surge, what all do they do? Is it just the ultrasound or is it bloodwork sor something too. I had blood taken for all kinds of things yesterday as well. Thanks!
