Why is the US getting involved in Libya?

Okay, first of all, I thought obama was supposed to be a believer in we dont get involved in policing the world, considering he opposed the Iraq war. Second of all, Qaddafi is not a threat to America, not even remotely, at least our intel suggested that Saddam had WMD's. So why the **** is Clinton going to meet with the rebel factions?
