How to control eating food at night?

Am 42 years old and for the past 3 years since i have been divorced, my eating habits have increased to munching on more and more snacks at night. I find it hard to stop eating now as it helps me sleep, but i know now that this is not good for my health and my heart as I have put on 35 pounds in the last 2 years. Is there any good foods or anything out there that can give me the sensation of fealing full. This is really embarrasing for me to share this but i want to get help and maybe this will help some other people or show others that there not alone.
